Bee-Friendly Practices
As stewards of our environment, we can support bee populations by planting bee-friendly flowers and reducing chemical and pesticide use, which protects our own food supply and the bees that sustain it.
Bee-coming a Beekeeper?
Honeybees can survive in the wild, yet they face alarming challenges. In the last decade alone, the steep decline in honeybee populations has been concerning. Beekeepers actively combat issues like Varroa mites, extreme weather, and pesticide poisoning, while playing a critical role in supporting the pollination of our food supply.
As beekeepers, we prepare honeybees for extreme weather and temperature changes by ensuring they are healthy by managment of varroa mites. Damage control is essential in limiting the spread of these pests. We can also educate our families, friends, and communities about the impact of pesticides on bee colonies and food sources.
Beekeepers monitor and assist weak or queenless hives that would otherwise struggle to survive. By fostering healthy hives, we help sustain the pollination of 75% of our food, including essential crops like alfalfa that support livestock. Local honey production not only connects us to our environment but can also provide natural allergy relief. Through our work, we offer sweet, locally-made products for our communities to enjoy.
Join us in making a difference! Together, we can support a thriving ecosystem for bees and beyond!
